Create a quiz that you and your friends take identically. Everyone answers on their own, then you compare scores and times, word by word. In a group, each challenge is worth points according to where you finish against the others, and they add up from one challenge to the next. It is a game, built on what you know.

Learning a foreign language is hard for some people, and I am one of them. My answer is to practise regularly, to keep my memory sharp. But I had no tool other than a notebook to revise vocabulary, work through conjugation drills and write down grammar rules. The apps I tried felt either too slow or too complicated.

So I built Voc'iz over my summer holidays, to revise easily and learn new words in the languages I am learning: English, Spanish and Portuguese. It started as a personal project. I use it every day, so I opened it to everyone. Today Voc'iz is free and has no ads. It is not a company: a paid version is not on the table. If that ever changes, I will say so plainly.
